Dr. Abrahams graduate from Le Moyne College with a degree in Physics and Chemistry. He then completed a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute before starting medical school at New York Medical College. After medical school, he completed his surgical internship at New York University Medical Center and then completed his residency in neurological surgery from the University of Pennsylvania. During his residency, Dr. Abrahams completed a spine fellowship and a research fellowship at the prestigious Institute for Medicine and Engineering. After residency, he spent two years at Montefiore Medical Center performing complex spine surgery as well as cerebrovascular surgery under the mentoring of Dr. Eugene Flamm.

He joined Brain & Spine Surgeons of New York in 2004 and has grown his practice significantly focusing on complex spine and brain disorders. Dr. Abrahams has founded two biomedical device companies to develop new treatments for specific aspects of both brain and spine surgery. He is the author of numerous patents, has authored over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and given lectures at many national and local meetings.

In 2009, he founded the Westchester Neuroscience Research Foundation in an effort to improve awareness to spinal cord and brain injury, malignant brain tumors, and neuromodulation. Please visit the website for further information.
